Opening Up New Ways of Perceiving Meaning: Exploring Representation and Symbolism in Poetry and Music

I am humbled for the opportunity to present at Georgia Southern University’s South East Coastal Conference on Languages and Literature. I gave a virtual presentation on very interesting topics that are very close to my heart, including music, poetry and literature. I contrasted excerpts of three songs to illustrate processes of meaning-making and talked about how our understanding is bound by conventions. I tried to exemplify topics regarding conducting research, linguistics and semantics using music, which in turn in my view illustrates elusive points about our limitations of making accurate sense of the world.
